The reserve, which includes the generations old Takapuna Beach Holiday Park, has been proposed as the National Ocean Water Sports Centre (NOWSC) site.
The NOWSC project driven by Yachting New Zealand and the Harbour Access Trust (HAT) has attracted multi-million dollar government support.
Although HAT representative Dave Donaldson, said he’s happy for the local board to invite who it wants onto the working party, he sees “no possibility” of the campground staying.
“The key thing is to come up with a solution that reflects the majority, but you’re not going to get everybody happy, let’s be realistic about it,” Donaldson said.
But Takapuna Beach Holiday Park leaseholder Marius Rothmann, who wants to stay, said Donaldson “is not entering the working party with an open mind”.
Rothmann’s yet to check the terms of reference for the working party but says he’s happy to be a part of it.
Donaldson’s comments come after the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board resolved to set up a working party
