One person is reported dead and others injured in a tornado which hit Albany on Auckland’s North Shore. Police and ambulance officers said the tornado hit around 3pm. Inspector Barry Smalley, of police Northern Communications Centre, said one person had reportedly died in the tornado but other details were scarce.

By John Grant Fire safety investigators are today at the scene of a fire that destroyed 2 classrooms at North Shores Kristin School. At least six fire appliances were called to the school just before 4am today but were unable to save the classroom which were described as well ablaze.
