Ashleigh Good was waiting at a bus stop in Mairangi Bay in November when her life changed forever.
The 1.82 metre tall beauty was spotted by model scout Rose Packard-Dube and three months later she was on a plane to strut the catwalks of Paris.
”It was like a fairytale,” Packard-Dube says.
Headshots of Ashleigh were posted on Packard-Dube’s Facebook page, Rpd Nz, in January and within two days Ford Models New York was in touch wanting to see more and sign her up.
Ashleigh, meanwhile, went to casting calls in Auckland for the New Zealand Fashion Festival but wasn’t booked for a single show.
What those in New Zealand didn’t see, the big names in Paris did.
Fashion house Givenchy placed her in the catwalk show for its autumn/winter season during Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.
Ashleigh is the first New Zealand model to be picked for a Givenchy exclusive and flown to Paris after being seen only in photos and a walking video, Packard-Dube says.
That’s a major break for a complete unknown who had never been on a catwalk before.
Ashleigh skyped Packard-Dube after her first show, while at her first fashion after-party.
”She is so excited, she still can’t believe this is happening to her,” Packard-Dube says.
”She got to meet a whole lot of famous people in fashion and stars like Kanye West.”
Ashleigh has gone from working in a North Shore cafe to living in an apartment in New York City.
The 20-year-old is now signed to Ford Model Agency in the US, the Storm agency in the UK and has offers from around the world.
