Following on from the celebration of A Million Poems for Matariki, there will be a second event bringing together students from all over Auckland on National Poetry Day this Friday 30th of July.
Students from Auckland schools will join the line up of leading New Zealand poets for the event at the Auckland City Library as part of National Poetry Day.
The students are young poets from the North Shore and from Otahuhu who recently took part in poetry workshops as part of the Million Poems for Matariki Community Poetry Project.
They will read their work along with poets Michele Leggott, Selina Tusitala Marsh, Paula Green, Kelly Malone and special guests Robert Sullivan and the New Zealand Poet Laureate, Cilla McQueen.
A Million Poems for Matariki on National Poetry Day is free, and goes from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Friday 30th of July on the Ground Floor or the Auckland City Library, Lorne Street, Auckland.
