Suppression order on name of North Shore teacher to be reviewed tomorrow

The case of the North Shore teacher who is facing six charges relating to indecent acts on young boys has raised a storm of protest in the media and blog sites.

The suppression order is up for review in the District Court tomorrow.

The suppression order puts a ban on his name being published and the name of the decile 10 North Shore primary school being published.

The school has already indicated that it is in a very difficult situation. You can see the TV3 report on this here.

Various websites have revealed the name of the person concerned and the general reaction of people that we have spoken to and particularly teachers indicates a clear wish to see the identity of the person made public and allow more transparency. It will also lift the suspicion on every male teacher at decile 10 primary schools on the North Shore.

You can be sure that we will reveal all and update you further on the case and the person on charges, as soon as the order is lifted, hopefully tomorrow.

Regardless we will update this as soon as we hear the outcome of the name suppression review.
