Dr Paul Reynolds the CEO of Telecom today fronted a media conference and apologised to the customers impacted by continuing failures on the network.
He was staunchly defensive of the XT network and said ‘enough is enough’ and it is time that Telecom rectified the issues and resolved the issues. He rolled out a $10m compensation package to recompense those personal and business customers in the ‘Southern’ region.
The explanations were straight forward and reassuring that Telecom was applying every possible resource and seeking the continuation of the high priority global support of their global partners.
It was clear that he has now put his personal reputation clearly on the line and is working give the network robustness and reliability that it has so far failed to deliver.
Time will tell, but the compensation, while hurting Telecom’s bottom line is likely to keep customers in place, at least for the next 3 months.
