The story below was published on Monday morning. The police were called on Monday lunchtime and nothing has been heard since then.
How seriously is the boy racer issue and the safety of our streets being taken by the Police?

The peace of the neighborhood was shattered on Sunday night when a white Subaru Legacy sedan lost control while racing around the streets of Bayswater.
The incident happened at around 11.40pm on Sunday 24 January and the vehicle was being driven at speed in a westerly direction down Norwood Road.
As it came around a slight right hand bend it lost control and skidded across the road, mounted the kerb and fortunately managed to miss numerous cars parked in the street.
The sole young male occupant of the car then speed off to have a further two attempts. Around 18 months ago a car parked in a nearby position was written off when hit while parked. Residents say this is a regular occurance and the streets of Bayswater are popular for boy-racers.
The registration details were obtained by one of several witnesses and the details have been reported to Takapuna police.
Takapuna police are yet to decide on what action, if any, will be taken.
We will keep you posted.

Good call! I live in Bayswater, a car went through a fence in Norwood Road and stopped short of the house by a couple of meters. Something must be done and its good seeing this getting coverage.
John, we have the same problem in Beach Haven. Two weeks ago I wrote a letter to the community constable with my concerns about the boy racers and I am still waiting for a reply. It will not be long before someone is seriously hurt or worse killed!
