Police seek stamp album owners

Dunedin Police would like to track down the owners of two stamp albums that include what appear to be a number of valuable stamps, including First Day Covers relating to health camps.

While police did not want to release details about how the albums came into their possession, they had been found at a Dunedin address in 2007.

The albums had never been claimed by their owners and there had been no inquiries about them, said Senior Sergeant Craig Brown. As a consequence they’ve been held at the police station over the past three years.

The first (pictured) includes First Day Covers addressed to a couple who possibly lived in the Lower Hutt or Trentham areas, and dates back to the 1940s.

The second is a black covered “Flying Eagle” brand album.

Police are asking that anyone with any knowledge of these albums or the owners please contact Senior Sergeant Brown at the Dunedin Central Police Station on 03 471-4800.
