The Flea reported sometime ago that the Auckland Regional Transport Authority was considering withdrawing or cutting down five different North Shore bus services, spanning from Glenfield to Browns Bay.
The final decisions have been made, with two services being entirely scrapped: the 963 and 964 Browns Bay to Newmarket.
The other three bus services in question have been reduced:
-the 945x Glenfield to CBD
-the 873 from Constellation to Takapuna
-the 952 from Glenfield to the CBD
Users of this last bus, the 952, have been upset at the process because the 952 was unfairly handicapped from the start, being a bus that has left out of published timetable for many years.
As such it was often called the secret bus by local students, and its users feel that since it was hardly advertised, hardly anyone knew that they could use it, and so having their route being reduced is unfair.
There are now only two times, both before 8am, that the bus leaves Glenfield on weekday mornings, and only two buses come back that same way in the evening, the last one being at 5.20pm.
