North Shore Police investigating a brutal assault in Albany are appealing to the public for any information about the incident.
Police say that four young males aged in their early 20′s were walking on Mercari Way Albany early on 14 November 2009, when they were attacked by a number of unknown assailants.
It’s estimated that as many as 8 persons took part in the attack.
The four men were walking to the Caltex Service Station after a night out at local bars celebrating a friend’s birthday. Suddenly they were confronted by their assailants and as a result of the unprovoked attack one of the victims received serious facial injuries. Minor injuries were inflicted on the three other men.
The victim was taken to North Shore Hospital by ambulance but was then transferred to Middlemore Hospital where he has had two surgical operations so far. His recovery will be a long one.
Police are urging any witnesses to this brutal assault to contact them.
The attack happened in the vicinity of “Cranks Bar” where a 21st birthday party was in progress.
