Finally an integrated ticket

By Claire Ahuriri

birkenheadbusThough Shoreites were blessed with the Northern Pass a while ago, the New Zealand Transport Agency is planning a better ticket which will make getting around the whole Auckland region easier.

It is intended to eliminate the need for multiple tickets for bus, trains and ferries, and bring Auckland’s public transport system in line with international standards.

Whereas the Northern Pass only covers buses within the North Shore and between the Shore and the central city, and trains within a small radius in the central city, this new ticket should link together buses, trains and ferries, despite the different companies and multiple regions in Auckland.

No date has been promised yet as the Agency is still in negotiations with the necessary organisations.
