The lines of white crosses with poppies, far away in Europe, might be a familiar picture to you.
But from now until November 15th, the familiar sight will be much closer to home.
At Fort Takapuna, 170 Vauxhall Road, Devonport, 5000 white crosses have been built and painted to represent every New Zealander killed in World War I.
The exhibition, which is free of charge, commemorates the 92nd Anniversary of the Battle of Passchendaele in Belgium.
The crosses were set up by the Abilities Group with wood donated by Max Birt Saw Mills and the paint doanted by Resene.
After November 15th the exhibition returns to the Passchendaele Memorial Museum in Belgium.
