Hunt on for hit and run driver

By David Tilson

A number of leads are being followed by Orewa detectives  in the hunt for the driver who failed to stop after striking and killing Dr Graham Robinson near Helensville last Wednesday.

The vehicle is described as a white Toyota ute.

Dr Robinson, from Mairangi Bay, was training to take part in ‘The Great Ride for Heart 2010′, raising money for the National Heart Foundation.

Fundraising had only just opened at the start of this month for the races that are to take place over the country between the 1st and 14th of February.

Meanwhile, donations to the website set up by friends of Dr Robinson had attracted nearly $2500 by yesterday, The New Zealand Herald newspaper reported.

Anyone who wishes to support the legacy of Ian Graham Robinson can do so at www.heartracer.org.nz/grahamrobinsonor to the  National Heart Foundation. Donations to go directly into the Heart Foundations Cardiovascular Research Fund at the University of Auckland.

Dr Robinson’s family have suggested that in lieu of flowers, people might make a contribution to this fund raising effort.
