Beach Situation Explained at Public Meeting

Another dog has died as the result of Sea Slug poisoning. This time it wasn’t on a North Shore beach but on the Thames coast line.

During August and September, 15 dogs became unwell with symptoms consistent with tetrodotoxin (TTX) poisoning after eating sea slugs at Auckland beaches. Five of these dogs died.

The Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) is still advising caution on beaches – particularly on the North Shore’s Narrow Neck and Cheltenham beaches.

A public information meeting is to be held to discuss this issue, Chaired by Councillor Chris Darby from the North Shore City Council.

Representatives from the Auckland Regional Council, Department of Conservation and Auckland Regional Public Health Service will be present to answer your questions. If you wish to attend the details of the meeting are;
